Brassicas & Warm
Season Crops

Brassicas offer rapid growth and high-energy forage, making them a valuable addition to livestock grazing and regenerative cropping systems. With diverse set of genetics, they provide exceptional yield and quality while supporting soil health. Our warm-season broadleaf crops deliver fast growth and strong drought tolerance, while our field legumes enhance forage protein and nitrogen fixation for long-term soil productivity. Whether for stockpile grazing, winter feed, or soil improvement, these species help maximize forage output and land resilience.

    • Brassicas can provide very rapid growth potential combined with high energy. The Brassica family provides a diverse set of gene cs with great production value in terms of yield and quality.

      Impact Forage Collards

      • High biomass yield and high quality

      • Deep taproot allows production even during dry/hot periods

      • Can withstand close grazing pressure as its growing point is very low

      Premiere Kale

      • Winter active stemless kale with highly leafy growth

      • Crude protein can exceed 17%

      • Excellent winter feed, withstands temperatures as low as -15C

      • Excellent choice in a winter or deferred grazing program

      Driller Brand Radish

      • Best planted in mid to late summer to avoid bolting and prevent reduced tuber set

      • Good nutrient scavenger

      • Deep rooted soil builder with good vegetative growth

      Purple Top Turnip

      • Frost tolerant bulb producer with good vegetative growth.

      • Excellent winter active crop for stockpile grazing

      • One of the best Brassicas to include in our forage mixtures

      Seven Top Turnip

      • Vegetative winter active Brassica with limited bulbous growth

      • Massive leafy above ground production

    • Buckwheat

      • Warm season quick growth with excellent soil building characteristics

      • Common in most mixtures

      Cowpeas

      • Very deep rooted legume with good drought tolerance and quality

      Forage Soybeans

      • N Fixing with strong growth

      Sunflower

      • Good drought tolerance due to an extensive tap root

      • Well suited to stockpile grazing as seed head has high quality feed with high energy content

    • Forage Type Peas

      • Small seeded cool season peas with high forage quality and good soil building properties

      • Use adequate seeding rate for best forage results

      • Increased protein contribution when combined in cereal forage mixtures

      Austrian Winter Peas

      • Winter active small seeded pea with significant N fixing qualities

    • GX80 BMR Corn

      • BMR (brown mid rib) Corn grown in high density like a high quality grass unlike traditional corn where the feed value comes mainly from the cob, the Brown Mid Rib trait imparts exceptional forage quality including digestibility.

      • Plant in spring or after first cut alfalfa is removed.

      • Plant at between 60,000 and 80,000 kernels per acre. 90,000 kernels in a unit.

      • Harvest at tassel stage for highly nutritious silage.

      • Wilt for 24-48 hours by cutting prior to chopping.

    • Defrost Corn

      • Very early (65 day) silage or grain corn

      • Excellent option in short season poly mixture

      • Early season vigour and spring growth along with good energy

      DL Dessert Corn

      • 88 day very large corn hybrid for silage or fall grazing

      • Excellent in multi species mixtures especially for fall grazing

    • Supra Sorghum

      • Positioned as the next generation of sorghum, Supra features the following:

        • Cold tolerant trait - plant much earlier without crop stall - get going faster

        • Tillering - planted at lower rates, Supra has dramatic tillering capacity

        • Yield - Supra yields are incredible and often challenge corn

        • Drought Tolerance - Sorghum can produce similar production to corn with 30-50% less water

        • Fertility - Supra can grow with up to 70% less nitrogen than corn

        • Plant at 6-8 lbs per acre

      Supra 70 Sorghum - News for 2025

      • 70 day - early Sorghum

      • High yield potential

      • Excellent for use in Poly Crop Mixtures or as Relay Crop

      Supra Sudan Grass

      • Hay option or multigraze - shorter plant with great regrowth

      • Plant at 8-10 lbs per acre

      KGS5295 MS Sorghum

      • Very early male sterile forage sorghum

      • High sugar content for high energy value and feed conversion

      • Male sterile allows for optimum carbohydrate build up without sending sugars to the seed head

KGS9311 DS BMR Sorghum Sudan Grass

      • BMR trait Sorghum Sudan Grass infers reduced fiber and better forage digestibility

      • Dry stalk makes for faster dry down when used for hay production

      • Excellent leaf to stem ratio

      Piper Sudan Grass

      • Fine stem Sudan Grass for high quality multi cut hay production

      • Fast emergence and growth
